Meet Our Coaches


After leading the Lakers to the 2018 Central Bergen Swim Championship in his first year with the team, Coach Baki returns to the Lakers. Baki began competitive swimming in high school and continued through college. He has been coaching since 1995 for both private and YMCA swim teams. He even once coached Olympic gold medalist, Cullen Jones at the Newark Swim Team almost 20 years ago! Baki is USA Swim Coach certified and is currently a USA Master swimmer, racing in several recent ocean mile swims.

Baki is married to his wife Pam, and has three children, Belinda, age 9 and 8 year old twin boys, Bryce and Brody,  His family enjoys outdoor activities such as swimming, biking and hiking. He is looking forward to another successful season with the Lakers and is excited to challenge the swimmers to have fun and beat their own personal records!


Coach Maura returns again this season as Assistant Coach and was a huge part of last years championship team!!  Maura began swimming on a team at the age of 7, and swimming has been a large part of her life ever since! She spent many years as a lifeguard and swim instructor at both public and private pools in Morris County, NJ. She also served as the head aquatics camp counselor at a YMCA camp in West Chester, Pennsylvania during her time in college. Maura coached the swim team at Morris County Golf Club in Morristown, NJ for four summers. Under her leadership, the team won its first dual meet championship in 40 years!

Most recently, Maura served as the pool director at Alpine Country Club in Demarest, NJ. Outside of swimming, Maura loves hot yoga and spin class. She is a second grade teacher in Hoboken, where she also teaches an after school fitness program for students in grades K-6. Maura is excited to return to the Lakers coaching staff and she is looking forward to an awesome swim season ahead!


Also returning after last years championship season, we are excited to have Katelyn as our Junior Assistant Swim Coach for the Lakers.  Katelyn is just finishing up her first year of college.  While in high school where she was on the Varsity Swim Team for the all four years.  She has been swimming competitively since the age of 5. She is currently a member of both the Phoenix Aquatic Club Team for the past three years and a member of the West Nyack Swim Team since 2006.

Katelyn’s highlights include All League Honors- Section 1 New York Swimming 2016- 10M Breast, 50M Free. Rockland County Honorable Mention 2016.  She is American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified/AED Certified.  Katelyn is also a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and was a Youth Swim Instructor in the North Rockland Learn to Swim Program. We are very excited to have Katelyn returning as part of our team this summer and know she will again be a great asset!!
